Safari Zones

There are THREE zones which are Khitauli, Tala, Magadhi.
Tala Zone (Gate-1) is now declared as Premium Safari Zone which means visitors have to pay double entry-ticket fee to do safari in this zone. It is more popular for tiger sighting and usually remain in demand throughout the season. Jungle Safari Routes" A, B, C, D" lies in Tala zone. Among them Route B-D or D-B are popular among visitors.
An area of about 207 sq. km. has been declared as tourism zone within the Park. This area has further been divided in three tourism zones. Each area has its own flora & faunal diversifications.Below given table provides names of Safari zones in Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve where one can do wildlife safari with description of maximum limit of safari jeeps allowed for safari at one safari-time. This limit may vary as under special circumstances, park management may increase or decrease this given limit.
Tala Zone (Gate-1) is now declared as Premium Safari Zone which means visitors have to pay double entry-ticket fee to do safari in this zone from 16/Oct/2011. It is more popular for tiger sighting and usually remain in demand throughout the season. Jungle Safari Routes" A, B, C, D" lies in Tala zone. Among them Route B-D or D-B are popular among visitors. This zone remains in demand so do advance booking to secure its entrance ticket for desired safari. Bandhavgarh Fort Safari also lies in Tala zone in which 05 safari jeeps are allowed in a single day. Tiger Tracking using elephant is not promoted by park authority due to limited availability of elephants which are mainly used for patrolling & other purpose.
Magadhi zone (Gate-2) is also good for tiger sighting. After declaration of Tala Zone as Premium safari zone & hike in its entrance fee, Magadhi Zone will be visitor's choice. It is going to be most visited safari zone of Bandhavgarh. Sambar & spotted deer is more frequently seen in this zone. Bokha is the main dominant tiger in Magadhi zone. Famous Charger Point is also in Magdhi zone of Bandhavgarh. Park Safari Routes "E, F, G, H" are in Magdhi zone. As about 66 tickets are offered for visitors to this zone, usually it can be availed easily.
Khitauli zone is good for birding, sloth bear and blue-bull sighting. One can do two jungle safaris in a day i.e. Morning & Evening. Park Safari Route "I" are in Magdhi zone. Route-I have 4 sub-route options to choose. As Khitauli zone is least visited by tourists, it is less crowded and easily available for ticket-booking.
Among 3 safari zones of Bandhavgarh, Tala & Magdhi & Khitauli zones are divided into routes and two routes are allotted in one safari round. One route for going from entrance gate to center point and second route for returning from center point to exit gate. Safari tickets can be obtained through online booking or can be purchased from Tala entrance gate and Dhamokhar check-point. Dhamokhar check-point in on the way from Umaria to Tala village.
All three gates are within 4 to 5 km range and hence stay closer to any gate will automatically make it acessible to any other gates.

Safari Booking

You must book your safari in advance through Madhya Pradesh state government’s website (https://forest.mponline.gov.in/).

There are FOUR Zones which are Sarhi, Kanha, Mukki, and Kisli. Kanha, Kisli, & Mukki are most prefered zones. For kanha and kisli zone you have same entry gate but for mukki and Sarhi its different. Most prefered is Kisli zone.
Booking the Safari: Step by Step (We will Automate this soon)
1. Go to https://forest.mponline.gov.in/
2. Click on "Book Now"
3. Pick Destination as Bandhavgarh National Park
4. Pick the Date you want to go there
5. Under "Ticket Type" you have "Full Vehicle Permit" and "Single Seat Permit"
6. You can choose "Full Vehicle Permit" if you take your own vehicle and max/upto 6 allowed.
(a) Select this option and select the date, Select Date and Hit "Excursion Availability"
(b) You will get all three gates info and which dates are closed, which are free and which are under Waiting list.
(c) Click on the free date that suits you best and select Continue
(d) That will lead to next page and in the next page, date, zone/gate. vehcile type is alsways LMV, Round as morning or evening and permit type is always "Full Vehucle Type" and click "Proceed for Tourist Details"
(e) Now you will get a form to fill all Six (or less) details ike first name, last name, fathers/husband name, gender, age, county, identioty proof [Driving License, Passport, Aadhar, Pan Card, Voter ID, Central/State Govt Issued Card] and enter the ID number of whatever you chooose. If you are a foreign national, only passport works. Generally the first person is taken as leader of the party
(f) Then enter Contact details of the generally the head of the tour (one of you) and
(g) then enter Bank Details (for the payment like bank IFSC code, bank name, account number, account holder name; if you dont have an indian account (eg Foreigners), enter your country bank accout numbr and for IFSC enter your Routing number, (ths is not used for payment but used incase of refund) Now hit "Continue"
(h) Your Ticket info will appear and if all looks fine, make a note of the Permit ID. Now hit the button "Proceed to Payment"
(i) You will get the next page; Click/Select KIOSK or Citizen (I found both worked for us. if indian choose Citizen and if foreigner choose Kiosk)
(j) Now you will the payment page and choose what you prefer - Debit/Credit Card, Net Banking, or IMPS and pick any gateway and what follows is the usual payment getway options and once done, it will lead you to the confirmation page and take a screen shot and also print out and keep it safely.

7. if you select "Single Seat permit" means you are depending on their jeep and you can pick a max of 6 seats (6 people) here
(a) Select Date and Hit "Excursion Availability"
(b) In next page, which will display all available dates, Gates/Zones, Session (Morning/Evening) that week which are free. Pick a Entry that suits you
(c) Now you will be seeing the Gypsy Pictures. Select the Seats that suit you and the number of seat (max 6) that you want. Hit Continue
(d) Next Window shows the selected details; if you are ok, Hit the Button "Proceed for Tourist Details"

You should be guided to a place to print the ticket voucher. In case if you miss that or want to later print it. Go to the same portal and use your Ticket ID and you should be able to print the ticket.
Note: You must carry a print out of your paid ticket and your original ID cards for the safari as it will be checked at the national park gate before you can enter the national park.
Travel Tip (IMPORTANT NOTE): Only book a safari when you are sure of the total number of people travelling with you as once you enter the names, you cannot modify any of the names or delete any of the names. If you have not filled in all six names when you “book” a safari online, you can add additional names by booking an “additional ticket” [click on the “additional ticket” tab on the National Parks page]. However, kindly note that for each additional person added, you need to pay additional fee and the trabsaction fee.
Adding on extra people to your safari ticket: If you have not used all six places on your safari ticket and wish to add extra people to your existing booked safari ticket, please follow the following steps:
Go to the website above mentioned (https://forest.mponline.gov.in/)
Click on the “Add on Tourish Details” tab on the top of the page;
[You can also reschedule and cancel using the same page and clicking the apropriate buttons]
This will open a page that asks for the “Ticket Id” and “Identity Proof”. Enter your ticket ID details and enter the group leader’s Identity Proof number and click on the “Submit” button;
This will open a page which will show the details of your safari ticket like date, time (morning / evening), gate, names of the people whose details you have filled in before, etc.;
If you have not utilized all six places before, there will be blanks where you can fill in additional names and details;
After filling in the details, click on proceed;
Again, note the “additional ticket id” number that appears near the top left of the additional ticket before proceeding to make the payment for the additional people;
After proceeding to make the payment
Permit Status shown with "W" on your permit means your permit is under Waiting category which does not means that your Excursion in the park is confirmed. Its confirmation will depend on the clearance of Waiting list and if your permit Waiting does not get clear before 5 days from your Excursion date your permit will be canceled automatically and your amount will be refunded.
